In the Spirit

And so, this is Christmas...

There is something in the air, though I'm not certain it is cheer. Maybe a chill, and a sadness. The past is haunting, causing this blue funk.

For the children, I smile, but I will not go on and on about the "Holidays". This season has been advertised enough already. No matter, I love my children infinitely~~of this, they can be sure~~

Yet, something seems to be missing.

Such a simple thing, a chair.

A useful tool for those who've stood on weary feet too long.

And still, it bothered me, seeing it there at the other end of the table, across from me.

An unfamiliar face, a strange form occupying the spot, filling the chair.

Though this new image brought an ache to my heart, I made effort not to show it.

After all, she's happy now.

I'll get used to it in time, maybe.

Something about the air, the sky, the mood.
The flavor of October~~crisp, rich and smoky.
It just feels good.
And the sky at night~~lovely and so clear.

How long has it been? Well, my email accounts are now defunct. Guess that tells it.
I've plans to reactivate them today. Who knows if I'll get to check them before they expire yet again! :o)
