FitVlog #55 | CIZE Crazy 8s (Repeat) | Silliness

Oh my!  What a mess I was for this one.  Good thing the video is short!  (O.o)

In this vid, we repeat the Crazy 8s from CIZE.  It's day 3 of the program.  I was very sore from the first two days, so I dogged it all the way through this one.  Probably why we just show the last part.  ;)  Sometimes, the legs get so sore I almost can't feel them.  Gah!

Miss Sara seems to enjoy doing these workouts, so we'll be resuming with day 4 very soon!  She's a fun workout partner.  We laugh all the way through, for some reason.  hahaha!

Day 4 is a repeat of "You Got This".  It's a bit longer and more intricate than Crazy 8s, which equals even more fun.  I can't wait!

Enjoy! (^.^)v

FitVlog #53 | We Try CIZE Crazy 8s

I'm just gonna put the video info down below, for now.  I'll talk more about this program after we finish Day 2! ... Which is today!  (O.o)  I'm ready, really I am.  But I can't believe how sore Crazy 8s made me.  Looks can be deceiving...

Started Shaun T's CIZE workout program and Sara joined the fun!  Enjoy!  (^.^)v

StarCat70 Plays | The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

With close to 10 bux in the Steam account, I was able to acquire The Elder Scrolls V:  Skyrim.  Yep, it was on sale!  I've been waiting for this one for a while.

And so, last night I fired up the Alienware and dove into the game for a few hours.  It was hard to stop, because I kept discovering new things.  See, I went into this knowing very little about how the game is played and I didn't watch or read any walkthroughs.  This was a cold play.  Which actually made it even more fun!

In this vid, I'm just showing the first 10 minutes or so of gameplay.  Well, what really happened was I hoarded a bunch of items and searched for loads more, thus much of the video had to be cut down or sped up considerably.  Hoarding items takes time.  You have to snoop around, search the bodies, look in baskets, gather baskets, food...  On and on.

Now, I'm not sure if gathering all those items is entirely necessary.  Most of it, I don't yet know what it's for.  But I went in thinking these items could be sold for more gold.  You know, you always need some gold.  And harvesting herbs and the like, surely I'll be making potions with those at some point.  The only concern I have about my abundance of heavy items is that it may weigh me down, which will sap my energy and make me slow.  Or is it only the armor and the weaponry that does that?  I should learn about that sometime.

I've determined that I'm kinda goofy when I play games.  I'm just now noticing this because I've only recently been recording myself playing.  Seeing oneself play can be humbling.  hahaha!  Still, I'm having fun!  \(^.^)/

Oh, that's another thing I mentioned at the top of the vid.  Having fun.  Lately, I've been hearing noise in the gaming community.  There's an ugly arrogance rearing its head.

Apparently, there are gamers out there boasting of their eliteness.  It seems if you have opinions on games or claim to be a gamer, you'd better have 100s of titles in your Steam account and have finished most of them.  Otherwise, you got no cred and no right to say a thing about a game.  ha!  I'm just waiting for someone to rip apart my little "let's play" vids.  Ah, who cares?  Just enjoy.  I really hope this doesn't keep newcomers to gaming from having a good time and making their own vids.

Now that this video is done, I'm debating on editing the rest of the footage.  I've enough of it to make a few videos!

Enjoy! (^.^)v

FitVlog #52 | Cycling the Suburban Maze | Allen Texas

It's a good day for a bike ride!  In this vid, I cycle the suburban maze...

It has been months since I hopped on the bike.  Since the trouble with the eyesight began, the intermittent blindness that is, I've been fearful of hitting the trails.  Fearful that I might hit something besides the trails!

But today, the ride went smoothly and felt pretty amazing!  I'll be doing it more often, to be sure.

Enjoy the vid!  (^.^)v

StarCat70 Plays | Team Fortress 2

Ian has been trying to get me to play Team Fortress 2 with him for a while now.  In this video, you'll see our TF2 gameplay!

Luckily, Ian had created a server for us to play against each other only.  I doubt I'm ready for the big world with other players.  I had enough trouble with just us two!  I think it's because his player, a spy, had an easier time taking my player, a soldier, out!  I need to rethink what class I choose next time.  Maybe a little practice on the side will help, too!

Enjoy!  (^.^)v

StarCat70 Plays | The Witcher | Ch1 Complete & Best OBS Settings

My first gameplay video of The Witcher is a little raggedy compared to this one.  I was surprised at how pixelated the video became.  That's because the settings on the Open Broadcaster Software (OBS) I was using to video-capture were on default.

In this video, I show how I changed the settings in OBS to get a much better quality video.  Also, I've tacked on a bit of gameplay.  It is heavily edited for time, but you can still see how much smoother the game looks.

Enjoy! (^.^)v

How I Take Down My Intex Ultra Frame Pool

The pool is officially closed!

In this video, I show how I take down my Intex Ultra Frame pool for winter storage.

I suppose the vid is self-explanatory.  I'll just add that I managed to take the pool down myself.  The pool liner is pretty heavy, but it can be moved easily by dragging it on a tarp.

Enjoy the video!

FitVlog#51 | P90X3 Total Synergistics

Another workout done.  This one, Total Synergistics from P90X3.

Yep, we skipped a day of working out.  It seems we've been getting a bit exhausted with trying to get 10,000 steps a day done, plus trying to get a P90X3 workout done.

I think the problems I've been having with all this exercise is I'm not eating the way I should.  I'm also not sleeping right.  I really need to work on that.  I'm still affected by the intermittent blindness, which is, of course, still very frustrating.  I'll just have to keep taking the iron supplements in hopes that it one day helps to improve things.

When things do improve with the health issues, I'll be starting the new program CIZE.  I'm pretty sure I mentioned it already.  And I'm pretty sure I'll be posting some vids about it.  So far, the program looks FUN!

If you're interested in any of the programs I've mentioned, please leave a comment, send me a message, or visit my website   www.beachbodycoach.com/sdchan   to learn more!

FitVlog #50 | P90X3 The Challenge

Yep, it's FitVlog #50!  That means I've done at least 50-ish workouts.  haha!

In this FitVlog, we're tackling The Challenge, part of the P90X3 program.  I suppose it is a challenge, but since I'm doing sit-ups instead of pull-ups, I'm kinda cheating a little.  But for me, I don't feel I've gotten enough of an ab workout at any time in the P90X3 program, so I added some.  :D

Also included in this video, Miss Sara joins us!  She's not too bad at this.  I have a feeling she'll be a bit sore in the morning, though.

Alrighty, enjoy the video and let me know if you have any questions about the P90X3 program, or any other Beachbody fitness program. ;)

FitVlog #49 | We Try P90X3 PilatesX!

Here's the latest FitVlog (#49), where we try PilatesX.

Now, I know we probably should have already done this particular workout, but I don't remember it.  I think we may have swapped out YogaX or even some PiYo in its place.  Whatever the case, this workout was harder than I expected, and more difficult than it looks.  Also, a bit more comical than I thought it'd be.  And frustration-inducing, for some.  ha!

So, another workout done.  We've got a few more weeks of the P90X3 program, then we're back to P90X.  At least, I think we are.

Somehow, I've got to fit in the PiYo program and my newest edition, CIZE!  I've peeked at CIZE, and I think I'm gonna love it!

For more info about the programs I mentioned, click on the graphic links.

PiYo DEFINE YOURSELF

Alrighty, I think I'll go practice some pilates.  Maybe soon, I'll be ready to CIZE it up!  haha!

Enjoy the vid! (^.^)v

Road Trip | My Hometown Chickasha, Oklahoma | Aug. 15-16, 2015

Summer is nearing its end.  This particular summer flew by very quickly.  I've yet to put my finger on the exact why that is.  Even so, there is only one thing to do to help prepare ourselves for summer's passing into fall.

ROAD TRIP!

This particular journey took us from Allen, Texas to Chickasha, Oklahoma.  In the video, you'll see the changing terrain along the way and parts of my hometown of Chickasha.  It goes by fast!  But that's kind of how the whole trip actually was.  I hope to explore more the next time we are there.

As we go along, I mention a few interesting things about the area.  Of course, there is loads more to know about the area.  That'll be another video.  In the meantime, I hope you enjoy this one.  (^.^)v

FitVlog #48 | P90X3 Agility X | My Thoughts

I'm so glad to get back into exercising.  Last week was a "rest week".  I'm starting to think I don't want to take a whole week off of working out.  At least not until I've reached some sort of goal.

As it is, I'm not even close to where I want to be.  I'm stronger, yes, but still a bit fluffy all the same.  I think it's time I dusted off the P90X program.

But today, it was Agility X from P90X3.  In the video, I talk a little about how I feel about this program.  It's enjoyable, to be sure.  Still, my fitness level isn't as good as it was the first time I completed the P90X program.  There must be something to the longer workouts.  I've come to the conclusion that for me to achieve a modicum of health, I'll need to dedicate myself to at least an hour of physical activity a day.

No more excuses on that deal.

Seriously.

Enjoy the vid! (^.^)v

StarCat70 Plays | The Witcher: Enhanced Edition Director's Cut

Summer is almost over.  But there's still a little time to do some gaming.  Which is what I've been up to these past few days!

I finally put my Steam gift card to some use and picked up a couple of titles I think I'll enjoy.  The first one is Five Nights at Freddy's 4.  Not sure what I was thinking on that one.  It'll be a while till I can sit through that one very long.  It's bloody creepy!

As for the second title, well, it's the one in that video up there.  The Witcher:  Enhanced Edition was released a little while ago, 2008, I believe.  It is the reconfigured version of the original Witcher game.

The Witcher:  Enhanced Edition Director's Cut was developed by CD Projekt RED and published by cdp.pl and Atari.  The game is available for Windows and Mac OS.

Now, I need to add a little something about running the game on Windows 8.1 (64 bit), or running it on any 64 bit Windows version.  I, and many others, had problems with the game crashing to desktop on a multiple occasions.  But I found a fix!  If you're having the same trouble, check out this discussion thread on the Steam forum which describes how to apply a patch:

For more information on The Witcher story, you might want to check out this website: http://thewitcher.com/witcher1/
Okay, so what did I think of the game?
Well, I had some trouble getting away from it!  I became immersed in the story and didn't want to quit.  I guess it's pretty good if it can cause a problem like that.

The Witcher world is rich in detail with plenty of atmosphere.  The weather changes, night and day happens, and there are small things like bugs and birds to see and hear.  With a decent set of headphones, you almost expect to feel a cool breeze, or to feel cold water drops on your back in those dark and dank places.

There is so much more to the game than I can adequately say here.  It's probably the first game I've played with choices that have lasting consequences.  Things are not so black and white.  I didn't realize this when I first started playing.  I chose to say something to the blacksmith that offended him.  After that, he wouldn't speak to me!  And I really wanted to purchase something from him.  Lesson learned.  haha!  There are other, perhaps, more important choices to make, such as, what battles you want to fight.  I've only encountered one such incident, since I'm not very far into the game.  I could choose to battle the monster in the beginning of the game, or to help Triss in the laboratory.  Well, I chose to go with Triss.  I don't know what would have happened had I gone to fight the monster.  One day, I'll replay the game and find out!

Combat in The Witcher is different than I expected.  I think I'm used to left-click, left-click, left-click, in rapid succession!  In this game, one needs to time a left-click just right, or else the attack chain won't work.  My gaming mouse will probably thank me for this.

Oh, I forgot to mention there is magic and alchemy.

In many of the RPGs I've played, there's magic.  I tend to like things like that.  And the alchemy is similar to what you'd find in Perfect World or even Final Fantasy, where you go on quests to collect items or ingredients to make potions or create gems to strengthen armor and weaponry.  This is standard stuff, I guess.  The game layout for the Inventory, the Journal, and Equipped Weapons are similar to what you'd see in those other games, too.  Also, the Skill Tree has some similarity.  The graphics are interesting and there are several different iterations of skills you can obtain.

I guess you can tell I like this game.

Maybe I'll do another video on it in the coming weeks.  We'll see how far along I get.  I don't think I could do a Walkthrough video, simply because the game is so long and I enjoy zoning out into the world.  I might do it, though.  Who knows!
In the meantime, enjoy the video!  (^.^)v

How I Maintain My Intex 16ft x 48 inch Pool | Saltwater System

Here is the video I've been working on.  The one that shows how I keep my pool sparkling clean all season long!

I think I must've been a little sleepy when I did the voice over.  haha!  Ah well, I think the gist of it is still there.  I hope someone finds it useful.

No need for further explanation.

Enjoy the vid! (^.^)v

What Am I Working On?--Pool Upkeep Vid, Etc

I thought I'd just make a quick vid to introduce another vid that I'm working on.  (^.~) Clever, no?

Well, it's gonna take a while to get the other video done, because there is a lot of organizing I need to do.  I don't want to leave anything out!  It's a pool maintenance video that was requested after I posted the video about setting up our pool.

Now that it's up, it needs to be kept clean!  So, I'll be working on a video to show how to do just that.  I hope to finish it before summer is over.  ;)

Enjoy!  (^.^)v

FitVlog #47: P90X3 Triometrics

After a few days of mostly taking walks in the hot, we did another P90X3 workout called Triometrics.

Triometrics is somewhat similar to Plyometrics, a P90X workout, in that they both have a lot of jumping around going on.  One difference, and it's a pretty big one if you're short on time, is that Triometrics is only about 30 minutes long and Plyometrics is closer to an hour long.  Both workouts are pretty intense, but I'll have to say that I think Plyometrics might be a little more intense.  That's probably because it's a long workout!

Alrighty, enjoy the vid and consider doing Triometrics yourself.

Take care out there!  (^.^)v

FitVlog #46: P90X3 MMX

Alrighty!  It's been a long time since a FitVlog has happened.

In this episode, we're doing MMX which is part of the P90X3 program.  MMX is influenced by MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) and wears you out!  This workout contains various kicks and punches.  There are also plenty of sprawls to do in this one.  And not just the one that happens when you pass out from exhaustion!

MMX is a little similar to the KenpoX workout found in P90X.  They both are full of kicks and punches.  One of the differences is MMX is only about 30 minutes long.  KenpoX is closer to 60 minutes long.  KenpoX goes along at a slower pace, but it's still a good workout, mostly because it's a longer one.  MMX is fast-paced, which makes it even more of a challenge and more intense than KenpoX.  No matter, both workouts make you sweat!

Here's one of my favorite FitVlogs that shows a little KenpoX, so you can see how it differs from MMX... (this one cracks me up)

We've been working out sort of sporadically, lately.  But now, we plan to stick with P90X3 until it's done.  Also, I may be swapping out or adding some of the workouts in the program with PiYo workouts.  I'll try to add more PiYo workouts to the FitVlog mix, as well.

This time around has been a little difficult.  I've had a harder time getting back into the swing of things since the problems with anemia cropped up.  I'm still having trouble seeing properly, but I've decided to just push on through.  Even so, I've been a bit depressed and have gained a considerable amount of weight over the issues I'm having.  It's more important than ever to get myself on a fitness schedule that is nonnegotiable.  Despite whatever challenges I'm having now, I realize that if I forgo working out, I'll have even more problems to deal with.

Having said all that, I'm preparing to take a nice long walk this morning.  Yes, I know I've been up all night getting the new video edited and posted.  Remember what I said about a nonnegotiable fitness schedule?

Enjoy the vid and take care out there!  (^.^)v

Fun Summer Makeup | BH Hollywood Palette & Milani Foil Liner

For some reason, I've gotten back into experimenting with makeup.  Something about the summer brings out the desire to be creative, I guess.

This time I'm using the BH Hollywood Palette.  I've had this palette for a while, but I've not done much with it, even though I love the colors.  It may be that I didn't have an occasion to wear such vivid hues.  Since it's finally summer, there's no reason not to wear them!

Normally, I use more neutral colors and purples, or black and reds.  This time, I try a bit of lime green and blue.  I do mix in quite a bit of purple.  It's hard not to.  I found the matte shadows in the BH Hollywood Palette to be pigmented, smooth and easy to blend.  The shimmers are a little gritty and not as pigmented, but they are still very pretty and easy to blend.  This collection also comes with blush that I did not use this time.

I'm pairing the BH Hollywood Palette with Fierce Foil Eyeliner by Milani in Purple Foil (of course, purple ;).  I love this stuff!  It's dark, because the base is black, and it's sparkly.  It goes on very smoothly, like most good gel eyeliner.  You also get a nice brush applicator.  The liner can be blended out to create a smoky look.  I'll be sure to try that next time.

I had fun with all the makeup I used.  Sometimes when I do makeup, I don't pre-plan the look.  I just line it all up on the counter and start putting stuff on!  That's pretty much what happened in this vid.

Enjoy! (^.^)v

Rainy Day Makeup: Trying Wet n Wild Spoiled Brat Shadow Trio

Ever since I can remember, I've been putting some kind of stuff on my face.  Sometimes it was even actual makeup!

I still like to play with makeup.  I particularly enjoy trying new eyeshadow palettes.  It doesn't really matter what brand they are, so you won't see a lot of prestige makeup in my collection.  There's a bit of everything, really.

The latest addition to the group is the one I try out in the video, the Wet n Wild Color Icon Eye Shadow Trio - Spoiled Brat.  What attracted me to it is the vivid fuchsia color paired with black.  I still don't know when I'll use the silver.

Wet n Wild Color Icon Eye Shadow Trio - Spoiled Brat
Wet n Wild Color Icon Eye Shadow Trio
Oh, the price!  How could I forget to mention that this eyeshadow is less then $3.00!  I can't remember if I got mine at Walmart or Target, but the price is about the same.  I've also seen it at Walgreens.  The quality of the shadows is comparable to that of brands in the mid-price range.  This particular shadow trio is surprisingly pigmented and easy to blend.  You can't tell from the above picture, but the black shade is sparkly and quite pigmented.  The fuchsia is sort of iridescent and satiny, easy to blend and pigmented.  The silver is, well, it's silver, a bit frosty, creamy and easy to blend.  I'll give it a go next time.

As I mention in the video, it's fun to try out eyeshadow shades without breaking the bank. You can see what colors work for you.  And if they don't work, no worries, with a product like the Wet n Wild shadow trio, you're just out a few bucks!

The Wet n Wild brand eyeshadow has been consistently good quality and affordable.  It was one of the first brands I used as a teenager.  It's nice to see that Wet n Wild is still around offering great products that pretty much anyone can afford.  I think I need to try more of the shadow trios in this collection!

Alrighty, that about sums it up!
Enjoy the vid!
Take care out there! (^.^)v

Intex 16x48 Ultra Frame Pool--How We Set Ours Up

It's finally happened, after much harassment from the kiddos.  The pool is officially OPEN!

It was a bit warmish this last weekend.  Perfect for swimming!  The kids are finally out of school for summer break, so the pool needed to be set up in short order.

Our pool is an above ground 16ft x 48in Ultra Frame by Intex.  It has survived one season already.  This pool is much easier to set up than the blue Intex 15ft x 48in metal frame pool we had in years past.  It also seems to be much sturdier.  We'll see!  That blue pool lasted about 4 years, which seems to be the average life for metal frame pools.  I suppose it depends on how well we take care of it.

In the video, I didn't mention much about daily pool maintenance, so I'll do that now.

Since I don't use the pool cover the pool came with (it falls into the pool, doesn't fit and is essentially useless) I have to vacuum the pool regularly.  For that I use an above ground pool vacuum with a hose that fits onto that "intake strainer" I talk about in the vid.  The filter pump creates the suction and away goes the gross stuff that you find on the bottom of the pool!  I also much sure to keep the filter in the filter pump clean, as well as, the salt water chlorinator parts.  That's probably a whole other video though!

Enjoy the vid!  (^.^)v

Denison Dam Road Trip! May 2015

Join us on our latest Road Trip Adventure to the Denison Dam, where Lake Texoma recently breached the spillway for the 4th time in history.

The dam is on the Red River, between Texas and Oklahoma, and creates Lake Texoma.  Widespread flooding has occurred in both states, due to several days of heavy rain, which led to the spillway breach.  At the time of our travels, we were not aware of this historic "Will it Spill?" event, until we happened upon a large amount of traffic leading up to the dam and a vendor selling t-shirts commemorating the occasion.

We hope the rain lets up soon, though there seems no end in sight!

For those who have been affected by the floods, you are in our thoughts.

Be safe and take care out there!

FitVlog #45 | Health Update | & PiYo

In this video, an update on those health issues I've been dealing with.  Also, a very small glimpse of the new workout I'm doing, PiYo.

Since I've stayed up all night to post the vid, I'll just let it speak for itself and not blather on too much down here.  haha!

I hope you find the vid somewhat useful.

Take care! (^.^)v

UPDATES Health Issues | The Garden | PiYo

Since I didn't get a video posted last week, I thought I'd explain myself!  haha!

In this video, I talk about some health issues that have cropped up over the last several months.  There have been some stressful goings on around here, which have likely exacerbated, if not caused, some of these problems.  I also talk a little about PiYo, the new workout I'll be trying soon.  And I dig up a little dirt in the garden.

Driving the Rain | April 24, 2015 | Allen, Texas

The day of this video was interesting.

It had been mostly gray and a little rainy.  Later in the day, the air grew still, warm and odd.  A fog developed.  I suspected we were due for storminess, and found our area was under a tornado watch.  No surprise that some had seen tornadoes already.

As the big storm approached, the fog dissipated and the air became much cooler.  Heavy rain fell.  The forecast, 80 mile per hour winds with large hail.  I wasn't sure if we'd see such things, but I had to drive either way.  And I had to capture whatever came on the GoPro!  haha!

Enjoy! (^.^)v

How to Replace an Interior Door Handle | '98 Tahoe

Well, not much need be said here, except I meant to say use a #12 3/4" screw!  haha!  Otherwise, the vid pretty much says it all.  Had a broken truck handle, fixed it.  This is how!

Hard Candy Natural Eyes Review | First Impression

The eldest daughter gave me the new Hard Candy Natural Eyes palette to try.

It was hard to believe the palette retails for $8 at Walmart, but yet it does.  It is said to be the dupe for the Too Faced Natural Eyes palette ($36), both having similar shades and case design.  So how could I not give it a go?

The video says the rest, I suppose.

Enjoy! (^.^)v

How to Make a Simple Memory Wire Bracelet

The other day, I posted this little vid about how to make those memory wire bracelets I've been talking about.

The simple bracelet in the video was inspired by the movie Interstellar, which just recently came out on DVD.  The black celestial crystals represent the blackness of space and the colorful glass beads represent the galaxies, stars, and nebulae.  If you couldn't already tell, I like space... a lot!

As for memory wire bracelets, they are easy and fun to make.  With a bit of imagination, some beads and charms, they can be be quite interesting and beautiful, too!

Here are a few I made~~

Bracelets Made by Me

Yes, it has been a long time since I made those bracelets!  But, since some viewers were asking about them, I thought I'd better make a video.  Soon to follow, a tutorial about how to make a memory wire bracelet similar to those shown in the vid.

When I first started putting this video together, I thought I'd give a more detailed description of them here, along with a price list.  After more thinking on the matter, I decided not to show a price list.  haha!  Pretty much chickening out on finally getting rid of these one-of-a-kind pieces.  Maybe some day.

In the meantime, enjoy the vid!  (^.^)v

#DearMe My Advice to Me! StarCat70

I've finally finished a #DearMe vid!

And of course, me being me, I picked it apart after I made it and thought about not posting it.  It seemed a little shallow in some places and maybe a little disorganized.  Still, I think the basic message is there.  Pretty much, just be yourself, be proud of who you are, be kind to people and the earth, and learn to face life fearlessly and enjoy it!

My younger years were a bit tumultuous.  I truly did not have many good friends.  And, like so many, I was teased about my weirdness.  Often after being called crazy, I'd say, "Thank you!"  It was kind of a compliment to me, because it meant I was interesting in some way.  haha!

For me, my best times were roaming around the fields near our house, or vacations with my family.  Having adventure!

I suppose I'll just leave it at that for now.

Enjoy the vid!  (^.^)v

Updates! | Spring Break | Blender | Perfect World International

There are adventures to be had around here that don't involve a footstep out the door!

It's been spring break this week, which is almost over, sadly.  And since there has been a bit of rain, our fun had to be had inside the house.  Which is perfectly fine, because there's entertainment to be had in here!

As for me, I decided to revisit some software I hadn't used in a couple of years.  One such application, Blender, I hadn't used because I just didn't know how.  But I found some excellent tutorials, showing step-by-step, how to make things!  How cool is that?!  The tutorials are found on the YouTube channel tutor4u .

Also, I revisited Perfect World International.  This has to be one of my favorite MMORPGs.  I've been playing the game off and on for years.  I include a glimpse of it in the vid.  Such a lovely game.

Soon, we'll be getting back to the school schedule.  I hope we can wake up in the morning!  (O.o)

Enjoy the vid!

Take care out there!  (^.^)v

A Short Drive | Rain, Ice & Finally SNOW! | Allen TX March 4, 2015

Surely, I'm not alone in thinking Texas weather can be a little wacky at times.  These past two weeks are no exception to the wackiness.

We'd all been coasting along, finally enjoying some near-80 degree temps, when suddenly a blast of cold and ice happened, with a little dusting of snow.  Then, a week after that, a repeat.  Warm weather, rain, ice, snow.  All of this just a couple of weeks before spring break (that should probably be capitalized. . . all of it!. . .SPRING BREAK!!).  It's sort of like winter was pretending to happen, right up until spring was due to arrive.  Surprise!  And welcome to Texas. haha!

This short video gives an example of a day of weather transitions.

Enjoy~~ (^.^)v

Testing Open Broadcaster Software | Recording Gameplay

I'm just learning to use the video streaming/recording software, Open Broadcaster.  So far, I like it very much.  Here's a video where I test out some of the program's capabilities.

Now, I need a nap!

Some Chat & A Saturday Morning Drive | Allen, Texas

Saturdays are made special, now.

Instead of sleeping in, us big peeps go out before sunrise to get a cup of coffee and orange juice.  And sometimes, we drive around a bit.  It's a nice little break from the week's goings on.

This last Saturday was no exception, as seen in the vid.  Well, at least you'll see it after the complaining I do at the front of the vid.  haha!

Anyway...
We drove around Allen a little, just a small part of it, and captured fast moving clouds on camera.  Another beautiful day, it was.

Aside from enjoying the weekend, I've been thinking about what videos I should make soon.  For some reason, though, my motivation is lacking.  I know what I want to do, just can't seem to get started.  I'll be working on it!

In the meantime, enjoy the vid.  There's more to come soon!  (^.^)v

FitVlog #44: Health Issues, My High BP & Partial Blindness

I debated about posting a vid on this topic for a minute or two.  Mostly because I don't like to complain when I have things go wrong.  Still, the issue is related to fitness and health, so had to be mentioned in a FitVlog.

There's been loads of stress in our household due to some serious financial issues that have come up.  We're dealing with them and should have things resolved soon.  I won't say more on that until everything is done.  We're optimistic that our lives will be back to some sort of normal in the coming months.

Even so, the stress has taken a toll, apparently.  For me personally, I've been eating tons of junk food to keep my mind off things.  Naturally, this did nothing positive for my health.  And I think I've re-activated the high blood pressure I had when my youngest children were born.  Which has left its mark on my eyesight!  Again.

I'd already suffered a "blank" spot in my vision from the preeclampsia.  I'd adjusted to it quite well, since it was only a sliver lost of my sight.  I could still see around it.  But now I'm experiencing patches of vision loss on the sides of both eyes.  And occasional blanking out of most of my vision. This is a problem.

Now, I've set about coming up with solutions to this development.  We aren't wealthy enough to see doctors about such things so I'll have to try fixing the problem on my own.  I've decided to get back to the healthy eating I had been doing months before all the tension started.  Also, the exercise.  I need more of it!  Luckily, the weather is getting warmer.  My favorite exercise happens outside.

Welp, that's the goings on for now.  I'll keep you posted!

Take care out there!  (^.^)v

The Bella Cat Waltz

The Lady Bella took her time kneading a fuzzy blanket prior to her nap.  Several minutes went by before she settled down.  She's pretty much adorable. \(^.^)/

FitVlog #42 Adventure Walk | Allen Station Park

There was at least one absolutely beautiful morning happening this week.  I decided to take a nice walk that morning and make it into a video!  A bit of adventure was to be had.

The walk ended up being an hour long, so the vid is the condensed version.  It's funny how time just flew.  I think the chatting along the way must have helped.

And, yes, that park can be creepy.  The whole family thinks so, though none of us can put our finger on the cause of it.  Maybe it's just weird that it's there, looking all spiffy, and hardly anyone is there to enjoy it.  Sort of like those fancy neighborhoods with their mountainous homes and not a soul in sight.  I've biked through those neighborhoods.  The sound of my bike changing gears echoed off the cold walls.  Sometimes, I heard the wind in my ears.  Where were all the people?  Maybe this is what the apocalypse would be like in the beginning.  You know, before the crumble of the mortar started.

The park, though, has some lovely spots.  Sadly, development has changed its appearance over the years.  I'm not sure where it's headed.  Is this progress?  We've lost loads of trees and natural spaces.  In the past, I'd be intensely angry about such destruction.  But I've been here a long time.  Maybe too long.  A person can become numb to consistent assault of the land.  Especially, when the majority seems to welcome the changes and sees little value in trees and green things where the animals dwell.  No doubt my opinion on such matters would be laughable to most.

This reminds me of arguments I've had over the years concerning nature and its value.  There are actually some who believe people are more important than any animal.  To the point where an animal's habitat is only valuable if it can be paved over and there's money to be earned from its destruction.  There are those who have the mentality that our "progress" is paramount, regardless the consequences of injecting poisons into the earth and waters.  I'd say there is no advancement if you stomp around childlike on the good things the earth already provides.  Now, learning to live with all the creatures of the earth in a sustainable and healthy way, that's progress.

Until such a state is achieved, I'll appreciate what's left around me.  The small strips of green where the birds sing.  And I'll do my best to preserve what I can.  This may involve slapping myself in the face to wake up from the uncomfortable numb.  ha!

Enjoy the vid! (^.^)v
